People passing by me in the Kroger must have thought I was nuts, stopping to whip out my cell phone to take this picture. But how many people are pushing a grocery cart full of food through the pet food aisles and come across their own book? Okay, it's my own and a hundred other contributors, but still. There it was, next to the pet deodorizer and below the Purina One cat food--Chicken Soup for the Soul: What I Learned from the Cat. I was so happy that I skipped the produce aisle and selected some cherry cordial ice cream instead. (Hmmm...maybe I should read Chicken Soup for the Soul: Shaping the New You again.)
I've always said you can never have too many books or flip flops. This is a shot of McKay's used bookstore in downtown Nashville. I don't usually battle the traffic and the confusing roads to go there, but I've been there twice in a week. (And yes, it renewed my intense covetousness for an iPhone, if you want to know what a sinner I am.)
I plunked down a wad of cash for stacks of books. It might take me all school year to get through them, alongside the rest of my reading list. Most of them will be great curriculum for our little one-room schoolhouse. British literature for Mariah and lots of Americana novels for Katie.
The older the book, the better. I love flipping through the yellowed pages; you can't beat that smell. Bargains and books, all in the same place! Good thing it's not in Cool Springs--I'd be in big trouble!
